 Easy Care Open Day 2007
This year's Easy Care Sheep Society Open Day will be held on Sunday, 10th June, 2007 at Little Braxted Hall Farm, Little Braxted, Witham, Essex, CM8 3EU. The venue is a 600-acre estate belonging to Kit and Trudy Speakman who, since they took over the farm in 1995, have developed what must be one of the most diversified, interesting and profitable units in the country.

On display will be Kit's flock of Easy Care sheep with an opportunity to buy a few and also some Hereford calves destined for the native breeder's scheme. You will see the three huge resevoirs which are stocked and used by a fishing club. The former outbuildings have been converted into 15 offices rented by a selection of businesses. One barn is used as an indoor tennis court and keep-fit classes are available 3 times a week. In the farmyard is the 12th Century Church of St. Nicholas. On the farm there are 60 acres of willows, which are sold to cricket bat manufacturers and are part of the ELS (Entry Level Scheme). Kit is Vice Chairman of the Essex FWAG and President of the Essex Federation of YFC and is very involved in conservation.

Guest Speaker will be Dr. Rolf Minhorst, sheep pioneer and lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences, Osnabrück.

The Open Day starts at 11am. Admission is free and all are welcome although for catering purposes please tell Kit or Trudy how many in your group will attend. Contact details are...
